About me
With a background in secondary science education Meryl Batchelder is now a Communicator for Climate, Nature and Sustainability Education. She has many roles including Education Lead for TerraLigo, Regional Coordinator for the Ministry of Eco Education and North East Lead for the Young Green Briton Challenge. As a TeachSDG Ambassador, she raises awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and was among the first UN Accredited Climate Change teachers. Meryl spoke at COP25 on the importance of embedding climate and sustainability into the curriculum, ensuring young people are equipped with the knowledge and skills for sustainable futures. She continues to work with schools and collaborate with academics on curriculum development while providing consultancy on climate education implementation.
Meryl holds a doctorate in environmental geochemistry, a post-doctorate from the Natural History Museum, and a PGCE in Chemistry. She is also a registered Climate Ambassador with Newcastle University and STEM Learning. Outside of her professional endeavours, Meryl lives on a smallholding growing food and promoting biodiversity.
